Over 60 years old and still growing strong!

The garden centre was established over 60 years ago by Nick and Ellie Birkengren. At the time, it was the first and only garden centre in the area. Nick was a good friend of Dennis Washburn, the original head gardener at the Stratford Festival. Sebringville Garden Centre was the plant supplier to the Festival for many years. When Nick decided to retire twenty five years after starting the garden centre, he sold the business to Horst Schaff. Horst, and his wife Nancy, continued with the business for another twenty five years. In 2001, Horst and Nancy sold the garden centre to Steve and Sue Coxon. Steve and Sue and their children, Stephanie and Brandon, moved to Sebringville from Stratford, and ran the Garden Centre for the next 14 years.  In the summer of 2015, Sheila, Carolyn and Steve Wolfgram purchased Sebringville Garden Centre from the Coxons.

Sheila, Carolyn and Steve Wolfgram

Sheila, Carolyn and Steve are siblings who grew up on a farm just outside of Sebringville.  They got their green thumbs and love for gardening from both of their parents.

Sheila studied Landscape Design at Fanshawe College, and then started her own landscape design and maintenance company “Sheila Wolfgram Landscape Designs”, which operated out of the Stratford area for over 20 years, before taking over as owners of Sebringville Garden Centre in 2015.

Carolyn is trained as an Occupational Therapist, but starting in 2022 will be working full time at the garden centre.

Steve is trained as a Veterinarian.  He and his wife Leesa (and children Alexandra and Sam), have a small farm just north of Stratford where they pasture raise poultry and livestock, and grow produce (such as garlic) that is occasionally available for purchase at the garden centre.
